Currently, Amanda also instructs children’s and youth ballet as a teaching artist for Joffrey Ballet, Chicago. Having formerly choreographed and restaged historic site-specific dance works for the Northwest Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore documentary and public event, she also worked with the IBT cruise ship tour, Disney USA and France tour, and other international performances such as in Mexico. She currently stages IBT

company performances for the stage in ballet and modern/contemporary dance, and outdoors for the community. She is the founder of IBTs modern dance programming and dance concert series, Kaliedoscope and Standing Room Only, and teaches modern dance alongside fellow Columbia College Chicago graduate and IBT teacher/resident choreographer, Christy Kamanaroff.

After retiring from professional dance, she returned to the university for continued interests, as well as turned to preparing the students for their own futures, performance careers and scholarships such as, the Foundation of Artists Mentored In Entertainment (F.A.M.E.), Icon Dance Awards, Youth Arts Awards, Italia Grand Prix/Italy, Youth America Grand Prix, and other pre-professional training opportunities. Students have moved forwards and heralded work such as Milwaukee Ballet II, Missouri Contemporary Ballet, and Brandon Ballet, Hubbard Street, River North, Disney World, Broadway (NY), High School Musical, Rose Bowl, Academy Awards, Dance Chicago, various music videos, musicals; and in university or training programs such as Butler University, Indiana University, SUNY, Columbia College, Conservatorio Internacional, Annarella Sanchez/Portugal, Milwaukee Ballet, Joffrey NY/Chicago, A & A Ballet, Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, Ballet Chicago, Royal Winnipeg/Canada, Kirov, Indianapolis Ballet Company, American Ballet Theater, Chicago Academy for the Arts (high school) & Sarasota Ballet, Florida, for multiple dance forms and musical theater.

In addition to training at Joseph Holmes Dance Theater, Ruth Page Foundation for the Arts, Lou Conte and other Chicago schools, she studied at Columbia College Chicago in Performance/Choreography, with a graduate certificate degree in Dance/Movement Therapy and Counseling, emphasis on Bartenieff/ Laban movement analysis and observation. Additional schooling has been Purdue University for a bachelor’s in Psychology and a certificate in writing for interactive multimedia, and a master’s degree from Valparaiso University in Clinical Mental Health Counseling leading to full licensure as a mental health therapist in the state of Indiana. A 24-year certified dance educator (CDE) and member of the Chicago National Administration of Dance Master’s (CNADM) since 1994, she is certified in the Revolutionary Principles of Movement (RPM) which brings safe and healthy dancing to all populations, a graduate of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance (ISTD) in ballet, and has attended ABT’s Beyond the Barre series in Cuban Ballet. She initiated the Chasing Dreams dance program for diverse learners in 2019.

Due to her dance and counseling background, Amanda believes that the dance classroom should continue to be a safe space for children to learn the joy and love for dancing, and helps to mentor new teachers to incorporate healthy teaching practices in their classrooms. Thus, due to its focus on safe dance training for everybody, she brought RPM training to the IBT teaching staff.

In 2023, she will be teacher training with Eckhart Tolle in Alberta, Canada, in Teaching Presence and mindfulness, engaging in certification work with traumatic stress through the Trauma Research Foundation with Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, author of The Body Keeps the Score, and continuing her close work with RPM.
